Main back page sports story today.

Justine tells me OJ was on the local radio today & his highlight of the sports awards was my speech.

So obviously I impressed a few from outside our sport as Bob Pringle the Aoraki secondary schools sports award co-ordinator will speak about skating & me at around 8.10 am this Saturday the 26th May on Mike Richards sports show on Classic hits on 94.7 FM, he was inspired by my words also.

World Champ Hits Town.

The Current world 15,000 elimination champion & World recordholder Peter Michael has arrived & the excitement mounting, as he hit the training track tonight, after arriving straight off the plane 3 hours earlier, after a long trip from Colombia, where he has been based for the last 6 months.

Highly favoured to take out Many of the Oceania Titles, it will be a big test For a much improved Antony Nalder, and the fast Indonesian Allan Chandra, to check out there form, it will be interesting to see how the Australian senior men shape up, against these top speedsters.

Peter was impressed with the new track & thought it was made to measure for him, a thouyght a number of top skaters have said about the new Timaru track.

Who would have thought?

One year ago the Finster could hardly stand on his feet & his big goal was to keep up with his younger sister, that he has a relay N.Z. Gold Medal & a collection, but now is a genuine contendor for Oceana Cadet Individual medals & a title contendor.

Only last year 3 young girls from Temuka started out, two that new to the sport, that they did not get to skate on the old Bank track. That the same 3 would pick up N.Z. championship medals & just scape into the N.Z. Cadet team for Oceania champs & now genuine contendors.

That Judah Kelly would be the outright favourite for the Cadet 300 Time Trial with a fastest time on the track of 31.065, then the others getting closer all contesting the medals, Analiese Le Roy 32.587, Cassidy Oldfield 32.776, Laura Kuepper at last comming back to form, but racing for Germany with 33.065, Cailee Autridge Patrick 33.082, Analise, Cassidy, Laura & Cailee, are half a second quicker than the others to date & along with Olyvia Mayhew, should be the time trial medal contendors.

In a highly technical sport it is excellent that within a year both Cailee & Cassidy, could be in a position to be amongst the favourites for the 300 T/T.

Analiese Le Roy is favoured in the long events but Tyla Smith the other first year skater & along with Leah McDonald & Olyvia Mayhew the youngest in the grade, has really been performing in the longer events & Sophie Lowen should be suited also to the longer races.
